Despite development of wildlife photography, National Film award winning filmmaker Goutam Ghose feels there will be no positive effect towards conservation of nature unless and until people are aware about its significance.
"I don't think photography can help in conservation of the animals. Here everyday elephants are killed in train accident. How can it help? It can, only when the masses are aware enough to protect this valuable resource," Ghosh told IANS on the sidelines of a photography exhibition here Wednesday.
Director of films like "Paar", "Dekha" and "Abar Aranye", Ghosh is well known for his documentaries and has also dabbled in photo-journalism.
Noted Bengali actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty of "Feluda" fame, feels otherwise.
"I love to capture wild life in my camera. I think through photography we can make people feel about these wild creatures. It will definitely help in conservation of wild life," Chakraborty told IANS.
