Leading Telugu actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Sunday said he would not let BJP move to go back on its poll promise to accord special category status to Andhra Pradesh go "unanswered".
Continuing his attack on BJP through Twitter, Pawan said the party was treating 'Andhras' as spineless and people of no self-respect and slammed it for going back on the promise made in its election manifesto.
"After a decade of humiliation & insult 'Andhras' were thrown out..without a capital and with a huge revenue deficit," he said referring to split of undivided Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana state.
"The promised special category status became special package. And special package is nothing but an eye wash. In that BJP's special package there is nothing special except the word special," said the actor, who had campaigned for BJP-TDP alliance in 2014 elections.
"Andhras will never forget the loss of 400 plus young lives lost in Jai Andhra agitation. We swear on the lives of 400 students who were shot dead in Jai Andhra movement and that we are not going to let BJP go unanswered for going back on what was promised," he added.
The actor, who plans to contest 2019 elections in Andhra Pradesh, has been targetting BJP on various issues. He hit out at the party on beef ban, suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohit Vemula of Hyderabad Central University and patriotism during last three days.
Pawan is scheduled to tweet on demonetisation on Monday.
