An unmarried Bihar woman chopped off an exorcist's genitals when he attempted to rape her, police said Saturday.
Though the incident happened last month, the woman herself lodged an FIR at a women's police station in Madhepura Friday, a district police official said.
She told police the exorcist, a close relative, repeatedly molested her under the guise of curing her after she fell ill last month. The woman's mother had consulted him, said police officials.
The exorcist also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed anything to anyone.
"She told police when he called her to his house one day, she went there armed with a knife and a mobile to record the conversation. When he tried to rape her, she chopped off his genitals," a police official said.
The exorcist ran away from the spot and is still absconding.
