A woman was reportedly killed in southern France after an armed man entered a monks' retirement home in, French media reported on Friday.
The victim in Montferrier sur Lez was the security guard at the centre, EFE quoted French media. She was killed with a knife at about 10 p.m. Her body was found on the ground floor, it added.
The daily Le Figaro reported in its online edition that the lone attacker also carried a rifle, adding that at present authorities do not know the motive for the attack.
The 59 retired monks who live at the retirement home had worked in Africa, the local press reported.
