Woman killed while crossing rail tracks in Italy

Casalnuovo (Italy), May 16 (IANS/AKI) An express train struck and killed a 20-year-old barmaid and injured another young woman as they crossed rail tracks near the southern Italian city of Naples, police said on Monday.

Raffaella Ascione was killed instantly in the accident at Casalnuovo in the province of Naples and a 22-year-old woman was injured, while a 26-year-old man was unharmed.

Police are investigating the accident, which occurred at around 10 p.m. (local time) on Sunday near a level crossing whose barrier was lowered.
