Islamabad, April 20 (IANS) A woman suicide bomber blew herself up outside a hospital in Pakistan's northwest tribal region Saturday, killing five people and injuring four others, a media report said.
The bomber detonated her explosives-laden jacket around 2.30 p.m. at the main entrance of the District Hospital in Khaar town of Bajaur agency along the border with Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.
The blast damaged many vehicles in the area.
Witnesses said the woman wearing a veil tried to enter the hospital but security personnel at the gate asked her for checking, and then she blew herself up.
"We had information about the presence of a suicide bomber in the area so we had already taken measures by beefing up security at all government institutions," a security official was quoted as saying.
No militant group claimed responsibility for the attack.
