With the flood water in the swollen Yamuna river receding since Wednesday, authorities in Haryana said the flood-like situation in parts of the state had dissipated.

A state government spokesman said 21,000 cusecs of water was released from the Hathnikund Barrage in Yamunanagar district Thursday.

The barrage had seen an unprecedented discharge of over 800,000 cusecs of water Monday. This was preceded by another discharge of over 4.7 lakh cusecs of water Sunday.

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management, Krishna Mohan said the flood situation in Palwal district, downstream of Delhi and Faridabad, was also under control and no casualty of any kind has been reported.

He said the army has been kept on stand-by to meet any eventuality in Palwal dsitrict, where water entered two villages and agricultural fields Wednesday. Over 350 families were shifted out of the two villages with the help of the army.

Mohan said the road leading from Panipat to neighbouring Uttar Pradesh had three breaches. He said two of these breaches have been repaired.

He said the flood situation in Karnal and Sonipat districts was also under control.
