Young woman, brother murdered in Delhi

An 18-year-old woman and her 10-year-old brother were found murdered at their home here Thursday, the former stripped of her clothes and an apparent victim of rape, police said.

The necks of both siblings were slit, a police officer said. The bodies bore several stab wounds.

The bodies were spotted around 6.30 a.m. by their aunt who lives in the same house at Karawal Nagar in east Delhi. She had come to wake up the two when she saw the gory scene.

She informed the police and their father who works in a courier company and was not at home.

The police suspect the involvement of someone known to the siblings in the twin murder. They don't rule out the possibility that the teenager was sexually assaulted before being killed.

"We have clues and are studying all options. It appears that a scuffle took place between the siblings and the attacker," Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Beniwal told IANS.
