A youth was shot dead by separatist guerrillas in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district Friday, police said.
Militants killed Nazir Ahmad Naikoo in Sellu village near Sopore town of Baramulla.
"The youth was shot at from close range by militants outside his house in Sellu village of Sopore sub-division in the evening. He died on the spot while his cousin was injured in the firing incident," a senior police officer told IANS here.
Reports from the village said Naikoo was the son of a middle-ranking Congress politician.
Police have registered an FIR and started investigations.
