Brazilian great Zico, who is seeking support to formalise his candidacy for the FIFA presidency, on Wednesday said he will bring "more transparency, independence and democracy" to the world football organisation.
In an interview with France Football, Zico said FIFA cannot be a black box where nothing is transparent and opened only in case of catastrophe and extraordinary events, reports Efe.
Zico, who scored 52 goals for Brazil, will have to gain the support of five national federations before October 26.
The current coach of Indian Super League (ISL) outfit FC Goa wants to contribute to restoring FIFA's credibility. He also lamented the involvement of several figures arrested on FIFA-related corruption charges.
The former coach of Japan, Iraq, CSKA Moscow and Greece's Olympiacos, believes that the priority for the FIFA must be focused on "the reform" of its Executive Committee and the role of its president.
Zico added that the FIFA current system, under which only some people of the Executive Committee have the power to decide everything, cannot persist, but the decision-making process must be democratised.
