A messy affair

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks in Canada about the "mess" left behind by others has, quite expectedly, drawn the Congress party's ire. Congress spokesman Anand Sharma said the PM's statements in Germany and Canada were "in poor taste". "It is clear that (Modi) carries a hangover of the 2014 election campaign," he added. Sharma, a former commerce minister in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, also claimed that the country's gross domestic product had quadrupled under the Congress-led government.
