The exuberance of the National Democratic Alliance government ministers knows no bounds now that the Rajya Sabha has given its consent to the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Bill, and the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Bill. A minister instrumental in getting these Bills passed was heard saying, "Now, I would like to know if Mrs Gandhi would take out a march against the transparent auction of coal blocks and coming auction of mines, which have got support from all mineral-rich states." Congress President Sonia Gandhi had led a united Opposition march to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 17 to protest against the government's land acquisition ordinance.
