The Congress-led UPA government had to face the Opposition’s flak for having different voices within the Cabinet on the Naxal issue. The Opposition cited the remarks of Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to prove that everyone in the Cabinet was not on the same page. Soon, a senior minister in the UPA, who is involved in anti-Naxal strategy formulations, launched a counter-attack. He told journalists: “What differences is the Left talking about? Is everything hunky dory in its own government in West Bengal? Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had quit the Jyoti Basu Cabinet, terming it a Cabinet of thieves. And he later came back to the same Cabinet. Banerjee has only raised her concern. She, at least, didn't walk out of the Cabinet.”
