Home Minister P Chidambaram was in Kolkata to campaign for the Congress-Trinamool Congress alliance. Or rather he appeared to be on a mission to congratulate the people of Bengal in advance for ushering in change in the form of a government led by the alliance. Change has come, he told journalists with an Obama-esque prescience. The conviction may have baffled a journalist who asked whether Chidambaram’s statement was based on some Intelligence Bureau report. Adding to her bewilderment, the minister said it was partly based on media reports.
