The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) recently invited fresh bids for the Shivpuri-Dewas road project in Madhya Pradesh, earlier awarded to GVK Transportation. However, the website of GVK, which has gone for arbitration against NHAI over the project, still lists the project in the 'Transportation' section, under the header 'Our Business'. There, however, is no mention of an ongoing dispute. GVK had walked out of the project, awarded to it in January 2012, citing delays in getting various clearances. Later, NHAI had cited GVK's failure in achieving financial closure for the project to terminate the contract. The project, valued at Rs 2,815 crore at that time, would now be worth Rs 4,000 crore, given a rise in input costs, according to NHAI.
