An Indian-American industrialist, who spearheaded a campaign to convince the US to lift a visa ban on Narendra Modi before he became prime minister in 2014, has emerged as one of the top donors to Republican candidate Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
Shalabh Kumar, chief executive officer of AVG Advanced Technologies, a conglomerate of electronic technology firms, is said to have donated around $1.1 million to the Trump campaign.
A registered Republican, Kumar heads a non-profit in the US called the Hindu Republican Coalition that has lobbied for the US to cut off funding to Pakistan and has sought closer ties between Washington and New Delhi.
