Business StandardSome members of the ruling and Opposition parties in Maharashtra don’t appear to be shocked at the manner in which Cyrus Mistry was removed as chairman of Tata Group without being offered an opportunity to argue his case. In fact, they are wondering if the corporate world had started emulating the political class in pulling the carpet from under people’s feet. During private conversations they point at similarities between the exit of Mistry following a board decision and the manner in which several ministers have been shown the door. In politics, it is the party high command that has the last word in ousting chief ministers and ministers; in Mistry’s case it was the board. “Toh hum politicians ko hi itni gaali kyun milti hai (why do people abuse politicians only),” asked one.
