A Bangalore-based company that likes to wear its green credentials on its sleeve is continuously on the lookout for ways to cut its carbon footprint. It does not switch on the elevator in the five-storeyed building, except for an hour or so in the morning when people come in or when some VIP comes visiting. But sometimes, the zeal for cost-saving may exceed practicality. For instance, the company has not bothered to repair the multi-functional device that broke down over a month ago. The device is used to take printouts, send faxes and take photocopies and the company has not fixed it because it’s cheaper to get the job done from outside.
