On Thursday, the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) released its outlook for the IT-BPM (business process management) industry for fiscal 2017 as well as its performance for the year that closes in March 2016. This is the first time that the event was held in Delhi, instead of Mumbai, and top officials of the IT industry body made it a point to mention that to the audience several times during the conference. However, only a handful of journalists attended the conference and even though it began well after the scheduled time, the small conference hall remained largely empty. It was not without reason that Nasscom Vice-Chairman C P Gurnani wondered aloud, "We did ask ourselves if it was a wise decision to have the event in Delhi."
