Party-switching creates many bizarre consequences, as a minister in Madhya Pradesh, Bhupendra Singh, discovered. He has been put in charge of the elections for the Sagar Lok Sabha seat in the state to ensure victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Laxminarayan Yadav. The irony is that Singh and Yadav once contested against each other in the 1993 elections from the Surkhi seat. What is more, Singh roundly defeated Yadav, who had contested on a Janata Dal ticket then.
