The National Democratic Alliance government has been very proactive when it comes to market reforms. Top lawyers say these days if there are any regulatory hurdles, the market players concerned prefer to approach the Prime Minister’s Office rather than knock on the doors of the finance ministry, as they would do in an earlier dispensation. In the last six months, there have been at least 20 instances when the PMO has had to step in. “The PMO is very active in this regard. If we give a representation there, we get a timely response from Sebi,” said a Delhi-based lawyer.
