Kanhaiya Kumar seems to have become the poster boy of every Opposition leader. There is speculation that Ram Jethmalani, one of the Bharatiya Janata Party's staunchest critics, may represent the Jawaharlal Nehru University student in court in six months when his bail period is over. It is rumoured that Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar made a joint appeal for Jethmalani to take on the case. Curiously, the Congress is conspicuous by its absence on the matter.
