Citizens of the state may not believe this to be true, but the Dalai Lama does. Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah recently drove the Dalai Lama around Leh in Ladakh, where the spiritual leader had gone for a month-long sojourn. He was so impressed with the young chief minister that he kept holding his hand as he walked through the Buddhist town where people had turned up in large numbers to see him. After which the Dalai Lama said, “The state (Jammu and Kashmir) has a bright future with Omar as its leader.”
