At the all-party meeting convened by the Election Commission, Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said that the poor lighting in many election booths in Bihar led to a situation where voters ended up choosing the wrong candidate. At which, a rival politician quipped, “Let’s place lanterns in the booths in Bihar!” The lantern is the election symbol of Singh’s party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
