Letter to BS: Politicians should focus on improving lives of Dalits

This refers to “Phule’s anger” (May 7). Eating at Dalit homes by our leaders reminds me of the launch of the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. Our leaders and industrialists were sweeping roads with sanitised garbage being shoved to the side of the road. Those distinctive brooms are not to be found or sold. Similarly, the pre-cooked and packaged menu seems exotic and definitely something the Dalits and the poor cannot afford to buy or keep considering the wretched conditions in which they live. The politicians should refrain from such Potemkin acts and instead focus on how to improve the quality of their lives.
