Guess who was the chief guest at Tuesday's "announcement and introduction ceremony" of the Indian men's and women's hockey teams for Rio Olympics? None other than Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah.

Newly appointed Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs (independent charge) Vijay Goel, a key BJP leader of Delhi, had managed the same portfolio in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and was also a minister in the Vajpayee PMO (Prime Minister's Office).

Considered closer to the rival camp, Goel was in the doghouse in the first two years of the Narendra Modi government. Obviously, he didn't lose hope and actively propagated the PM's pet initiatives, particularly the stress on yoga. And now, the choice of the chief guest...
