The Sharad Pawar camp is evaluating how the Indian Premier League (IPL) fiasco broke out in the first place and who fanned the flames. The camp has two senior United Progressive Alliance ministers responsible for the way the fuss was escalated. Both are members of the Cabinet Committee on Security, which means they are very senior indeed. In fact, one is a former finance minister and the other is a former external affairs minister.
Pawar’s supporters believe they are at the centre of a conspiracy to derail their leader as he is about to become the International Cricket Council chief. There is no love lost between Pawar and both these ministers. At one time or the other, both have clashed with the agriculture minister in Cabinet meetings. The last word on the conspiracy has not been said yet.
