The Rs 73,000-crore Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) project that was to have come up near Gujarat’s Capital Gandhinagar may not have progressed much in the last three years, but that hasn’t prevented it from going in for a bit of nip and tuck. Pictures on the GIFT website show the curves of the original 400-meter high “Diamond Tower”, for instance, have been straightened out a bit — according to those in the know, the company was told the designs looked structurally unsound, so the building’s shape was altered a bit. So, if and when the project does come up, its plans won’t get rejected by structural engineers at the local town planning office.
