After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed the government in Uttarakhand on Saturday with Trivendra Singh Rawat as chief minister, the state’s unofficial spiritual ambassador Ramdev took to social media to congratulate the new state leadership. Ramdev, whose closeness to the BJP, particularly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been media fodder, tweeted: “With the leadership of Trivendra Singh Rawatji and the satvik energy of the Narendra Modi sarkar, Uttarakhand will achieve economic and spiritual growth.” Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, an FMCG company run by Ramdev, is headquartered in Hardwar, Uttarakhand.
