Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar on Sunday received a D Litt degree from the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. Leaders across the political spectrum showered praise on him recalling his contribution to the country and to Maharashtra. Former legislator Keshavrao Dhondge, a leading left-of-centre politician, kissed him at a public function, but later led a scathing attack against Pawar calling him Narada (a sage in Hindu mythology) without his signature khartal and veena. Dhondge added that even the wise Narada cannot match Pawar in wiliness—Pawar engineers divisions in parties, he alleged, and his “victims” don’t even know what hit them.
