Twitter is turning out to be a source of bad news for reporters who have travelled to New York and Washington D C to cover Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US. On Tuesday morning, India time, that is late evening in the US, Modi met US President Barack Obama. One reporter at the official briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) asked for confirmation of information from his "sources" that Obama received Modi with the Gujarati greeting "kem chho". Pat came the reply from MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin that there was little need to quote unidentified "sources" when he had already tweeted about it. "The 'Kem chho' moment. Prez @BarackObama greets PM @narendramodi at doorstep of the White House," Akbaruddin had tweeted. To a question on whether Modi replied in Gujarati, the spokesperson said the PM responded in English.
