CPI veteran Gurudas Dasgupta is seen as a dogmatic Leftist in political circles. But, behind this is a caring and emotional husband. His wife Jaya is currently unwell and confined to Kolkata. Last week, Dasgupta remained in touch with her over the telephone while attending the first day of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting. Finally, Dasgupta decided to skip the second day of the JPC meet and flew down to Kolkata. Although he is one of the most vocal members at the meetings, Dasgupta had to make a difficult choice; and, he chose family.
