While the patch-up between the Ambani brothers has captured the headlines, what has gone unnoticed is the reconciliation moves between DMK chief M Karunanidhi’s son M K Alagiri (Union chemical and fertilisers minister) and the Maran brothers, Dayanidhi and Kalanidhi. The Maran brothers — the sons of Karunanidhi’s late nephew Murasoli Maran — had fallen out with the Tamil Nadu chief minister’s family a few years ago after their publication carried a survey showing Karunanidhi’s son Stalin as his popular successor. According to sources, Kalanidhi Maran, who runs the business empire, including the Sun TV network, went to the US while Alagiri was in New York. The two reportedly had a meeting for nearly three hours, after which their families supposedly travelled together in the US.
