News reports that Twitter executives are advising the new government's ministers on social media usage have prompted some in the media to wonder if the Bharatiya Janata Party's love for the micro-blogging site stems from the party's suspicion that Twitter was actually invented by Valmiki, the Hindu sage. In Valmiki's Ramayana, protagonist Rama first learns of Sita's abduction from Jatayu, the aging vulture, who fought Ravana as he fled south with the princess. Birds with news, it appears, are a fundamental part of the Ram-Rajya ecosystem.
