In his reply to the discussion on inflation in the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government was heard doling out the same explanation as his predecessor to explain the price rise: "After the Iraq crisis, the Brent crude has gone up to $115. The cost of the Indian basket has also increased...." he intoned. Soon, P Rajeev of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) or the CPI(M) was on his feet demanding to know, "Is this a UPA [United Progressive Alliance] III government?" When CPI(M)'s Sitaram Yechury's question on whether the government was banning forward and futures trading at least for some time went unanswered, Yechury walked out with his party members and reiterated the charge. "They are working like a UPA III government," he fumed.
