The Parliament staff is used to seeing film stars in the role of MPs, but obviously celebrities from other fields are a novelty. After the just-concluded first session of the 16th Lok Sabha, the Parliament staff was excited to see so many new celebrities as MPs, who were not film stars, but are celebrated for their achievements in other fields. For instance, former Army chief V K Singh, comedian Bhagwant Mann (one of the four MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party), and Olympic medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. Rathore, for one, was mobbed by the Parliament staff with sports-related queries and he patiently heard them out. Evidently, the "glamour quotient" is not restricted to film stars alone.
