Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, at a public rally in the Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha last week, asked the crowd to vote for the party if they wanted to see the state become a manufacturing hub. He picked the example of the garment sector to illustrate his argument by claiming that the "Made in China" clothes people in the state wore would soon carry the "Made in Odisha" tag. Gandhi, realising that Odisha was still a province within the Indian union, immediately corrected himself and said the tags would say "Made in India", but by then the argument was lost in the crowd.
