On a macro scale, Solapur Road is a major six-lane artery road that connects Pune to Hyderabad and Solapur. On a micro scale, it connects suburbs such as Pune Cantonment, Wanowrie, Sopan Baug, Ghorpadi, Magarpatta, Hadapsar and Manjri. Solapur Road features the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) for public transport.

The areas of Sopan Baug and Ghorpadi are situated between Koregaon Park on the north and Solapur Road on the south. These areas, though close to the Cantonment, are relatively peaceful and green and have become a preferred residential destination in the past two years.

Hadapsar was a small village in the suburbs of Pune city. It emerged mainly thanks to the development of Magarpatta City (an integrated township) .This township was the first to feature the 'walk-to-work' concept in Pune. Magarpatta City, spread over 400 acres, is mixed-use township development. It is planned like a miniature city, complete with houses, hospitals, recreation centers, workplaces, schools, etc.

Magarpatta City is the main property market driver that transformed Hadapsar and surrounding areas in terms of infrastructure, real estate activities, etc. Its commercial buildings are predominantly occupied by IT/ITeS companies.

The area of Hadapsar between Magarpatta Square and Saswad Road mainly caters to a middle-income population. It consists primarily of the Gaothan area of Hadapsar.

The areas close to Magarpatta are also developing. Amanora Park Town, for instance, is spread over 325 acres and is the first mixed use township project under the MRTP Act, coming up in Hadapsar near Magarpatta City. Another township project is SP Infocity, an integrated township spread over 80 acres on Saswad Road, about 2.5 km from Magarpatta City.'
