ICICI Bank, India's largest private sector lender and the first bank to launch a Facebook application for its customers, is looking at expanding its social media presence.

“We are working on adding more customer-oriented features to our social media application. Whatever features we have in the internet banking space, we may bring those to the social media platform," Mukesh Kumar Jain, chief technology officer, ICICI Bank, said.

The 'ICICI Bank App', which was launched this January, on Facebook allows customers to check account details, generate mini statements, upgrade debit card and do cheque book enquiries.

“Social media is the new focus area for the bank as it caters to a wide range of customer group and holds immense potential to grow. It is an important step towards building deeper customer relationships. We will add features according to the requirement and demand of customers," he said at the launch of its 'Tab Banking' and 24/7 electronic branch here today.

ICICI Bank has around 800,000 customers who like its Facebook page. The bank uses the page to provide exclusive offers, product details and customer care services to its customers.

With private sector banks warming up to social media, Citibank too has joined the race and launched its Facebook app.
