The Supreme Court Thursday directed the special CBI court dealing with 2G cases to appoint a commissioner who will go to Chennai to record the statement of Dayalu Ammal, a prosecution witness in the case.
An apex court bench, headed by Justice G.S. Singhvi, gave this direction while taking note of a medical report that opined that Dayalu Ammal - wife of DMK chief M. Karunanidhi - was not in a fit state of health.
The apex court was moved seeking exemption to Dayalu Ammal from appearing before the 2G court on the grounds of poor health and her inability to travel to Delhi.
