7.62 million new voters in AP

About 7.62 million new electors have been enrolled in Andhra Pradesh. This enrolment forms 12.21 per cent of the total strength of 62.40 million electorate as on January 1, 2014. The final figures were arrived at after weeding out 3.36 million dead/shifted/bogus entries from the electoral rolls, according to chief electoral officer Bhanwar Lal. AP has a population of 84.1 million according to the 2011 census and the total number of voters constitute 74.20 per cent of the population. The elector-population ratio of 698 and gender ratio of 994 were almost on a par with the census figures, Bhanwar Lal said.
