Andhra Assembly proceedings disrupted again

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said he would quit politics if the Bill was introduced in Parliament 'as it is'

The proceedings of the state Legis lative Assembly were disrupted for the third consecutive day on Wednesday with legislators storming the well of the House raising slogans in favour and against bifurcation of the state.

Consequently, even though the extended deadline set by the President for the state Assembly to express its views ends on Thursday, there had been no discussion on the  Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill, 2013.

Meanwhile, ministers and legislators belonging to Andhra and Rayalaseema regions submitted affidavits to the Speaker opposing state's bifurcation and rejecting the Bill.

On the other hand, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who feels the Bill is full of flaws, said he would quit politics if the Bill was introduced in Parliament “as it is”.

Last week, Reddy issued a notice to the Speaker seeking to move a resolution in the Assembly to reject the Bill and return it to the Centre.
