The army, on Tuesday, said that its various formations deployed in the South of Pir Panjal have been aggressively dominating the Line of Control (LoC) and the hinterland to ensure peaceful and secured environment in the area.

"The Army and its various formations deployed South of Pir Panjal have been most proactively and aggressively dominating the LoC and the hinterland thereby assuring a peaceful and secure environment in the area", General officer Commanding (GOC) of the 16 corps Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar said.

Lt Gen Nimbhorkar was speaking during a core group security meeting held in Nagrota to take stock of the prevailing security situation on the South of Pir Panjal in the ten districts of Jammu region.

The GOC said that the Army is ready to face any challenges that may emerge in the future and is ready to counter it with all its might.

Besides Lt Gen Nimbhorkar, Director General of Police (J-K), K Rajendra Kumar co-chaired the meeting.

Additional DGP (CID) SM Sahai Inspector General CRPF (Jammu Zone), Rakesh Sethi, IGP, Jammu, Danish Rana, besides other senior officers from Army, Police, Security and Intelligence agencies participated in the meeting.

"A joint strategy was chalked out in great details between all the agencies to ensure peace and stability in the region and ensure incident free environment", a defence spokesman said.

He said that the DGP appreciated the role of all Security Forces in maintaining peace and harmony in the region.

"He emphasised on the need for maintaining high levels of alertness to beat designs of inimical elements and exhorted all present to continue with synergy and coordination at functional level to ensure incident free atmosphere", he said.
