Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, on Tuesday tweeted that he appreciated BJP’s pick for the President’s post and declared himself as ‘a loyalist’ and ‘a disciplined party soldier’.

The BJP leader said that Kovind was a good choice for President but the process should have been more transparent. Sinha, who had backed party veteran Advani’s name for the presidential candidate, had expressed unwavering support to Advani through a series of tweets. The BJP had on Monday named Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind as the NDA’s presidential nominee.

Sinha, who represents Patna in parliament said: “Being a loyalist and a disciplined party soldier, I certainly appreciate and abide by the #BJP party parliamentary board’s decision of finally nominating Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, #RamNathKovind, Hon. Governor of Bihar, as the NDA presidential candidate.”

“Highly appreciate this decision and congratulate the senior, learned, seasoned politician & perfect gentleman Mr. #RamNathKovind. However we have certain reservations about the decision, however right & timely it may be. I wish the matter was dealt with or handled in a more mature & transparent manner. We could have nipped the bud right in the beginning in an open & shut, transparent manner without going into the "Ringa Ringa Roses" of so called discussions & consultations with one and all parties,” he tweeted.

Sinha has been sidelined in the party after Narendra Modi became Prime Minister of the country. His closeness to Advani is nothing new and many think that it was due this proximity the ongoing party leadership has sidelined the Patna MP.
