In a clear indication of the growing power centre in the Congress party, former Union ministers CP Joshi and Ajay Maken were made members of the Rahul Gandhi- headed Election Coordination Committee for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Both are known to be close to the Congress scion. While Joshi is at present the AICC incharge of Bihar, Bengal and Assam, Maken’s clout has been enhanced after being appointed the head of the Communications wing.

The other members of the all powerful Election Coordination Committee include Ahmed Patel, Janardan Dwivedi, Digvijaya Singh, Madhusudan Mistyry and Jairam Ramesh.
