The Congress high command is mulling over replacing Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and might be asking for his resignation soon, according to reports.

The Assam unit of the Congress party is reportedly miffed with Gogoi and has been pressing for his resignation.

Earlier today, Gogoi said he had no knowledge of any such talks, but added that final decision rests with the party's high command.

Gogoi had earlier tendered his resignation after the party's dismal performance in Assam in the Lok Sabha elections, but the party had turned down his offer.
