Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday moved into his new palatial residence at Begumpet in Hyderabad on Thursday. Estimated to be built at the cost of Rs 35 crore, the final bill is reportedly Rs 50 crore.

The Chief Minister along with family members performed the 'Griha Pravesam' (house warming ceremony) at official building complex.

Government has named the buildings complex -- two existing buildings being used by the Chief Minister, the newly-built Chief Minister residence, office and a conference hall -- as 'Pragati Bhavan', sources said.

The conference hall has been named as 'Janahita'. The Chief Minister would interact with different sections of society, including farmers, workers, employees and artisans, on formulation of policies and their implementation in 'Janahita'.

Media reports said the sprawling new residence, with state-of-the-art facilities, has come up over 1 lakh square feet space and is spread over nine acres of land. The reports said that due to security reasons, "bullet-proof" bathrooms have been constructed in the house.

The house has been made after consulting with Vaastu experts, reports said.

A government statement had earlier said the new residence had been planned as the Chief Minister's camp office and residence did not have adequate facilities for parking and holding large meetings.

The complex has been constructed by Mumbai-based realty major Shapoorji Pallonji.

Religious guru Tridandi Srimannarayana Chinna Jeeyar Swamy was also present at the ceremony, the sources added.
