Madhya Pradesh has sought Singapore's support in making Madhya Pradesh a manufacturing hub.

"Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has sought Singapore's support in making Madhya Pradesh a manufacturing hub," a senior government official said.

The support by Chouhan was sought on Thursday during a meeting with Emeritus Senior Minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong.

Tong was accompanied by a 15-member delegation to Bhopal.

The state also sought support from the South-East Asian country to promote tourism and setting up vocational training institute.

According to the official, Chouhan said that Singapore can extend co-operation in setting up vocational training centre and infrastructure building.

Chouhan apprised the visiting dignitary of steps taken by the government like enacting Madhya Pradesh Public Services Guarantee Act, initiating CM Helpline 181 and adopting new methods like e-tendering, e-payment and e-measurement.

"Chief minister also highlighted the excellent growth rate of the state - 11.08%, which was the highest in the country. The state had also recorded agriculture growth rate of 24.99%," the official said.

A team of top officers and experts will soon visit Singapore to explore trade and investment opportunities.
