Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is the Vice-President of the BJP and the party's most prominent Muslim member. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1998 from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh and was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with additional charge of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Naqvi has been a member of several parliamentary and other committees on Finance, Commerce and Information Technology. He was also on the Joint Committee on the Functioning of Wakf Boards.
He was recently summoned by a Delhi court in a defamation complaint filed against him by Sabir Ali for allegedly linking him with Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal.
