Presidential elections: Where parties stand on Kovind's candidature

Many others from the opposition might announce their support to Kovind

According to BJP’s arithmetic, National Democratic Alliance candidate Ram Nath Kovind currently has over 60 per cent support in the presidential electoral college of 1,098,903 votes. The electoral college comprises elected members of the two houses of Parliament and elected legislators of 31 assemblies (including Delhi and Puducherry).

There are indications that many from the Opposition ranks might announce their support to Kovind in the coming days. The unity of 17 Opposition parties, who met for a lunch that Congress president Sonia Gandhi hosted on May 26 to discuss the issue, is set to break.
